The Sun City Fire Department
strives to promote excellent prevention programs along with phenomenal customer
service. One of the programs we offer
is a home safety survey in which we check the home for possible hazards along
with making sure the property has a working smoke alarm and fire extinguisher.
A few weeks ago while
surveying a resident’s home site; we provided a fire extinguisher to the
owners. After instruction, the extinguisher was placed in a proper area of the
home where could be accessed in case of a fire situation.
Monday, November 18,
2002, the residents stopped by our Administrative Offices with their brand new
fire extinguisher. Upon greeting them, I looked down to see the extinguisher’s gauge
read empty. This struck me as unusual since the device was full two weeks
ago. Come to find out, the resident had
to use the extinguisher for a small fire, which occurred, in their home. As
they were explaining their situation, I kept thinking to myself about the
importance of sharing safety tips and preventative ways to make the residents
of Sun City safe within their homes and the community.
The Sun City Fire
Department would like to extend a special thank you to all of the citizens of
our community for supporting our Community Education Programs and practicing
fire safety on a daily basis. If you have additional questions in regards to
our current educational programs offered or to make a Home Safety Survey
appointment, please contact the Sun City Fire Department Administrative Offices
at (623) 974-2321.
