The Sun City Fire Prevention Bureau enjoys one of the lowest fire losses for commercial and residential buildings in the nation for a city its size and age. The Fire Prevention Bureau is directed by Fire Marshal Jim Fox.
The Fire Prevention Bureau is divided into four divisions: Inspections/Code Enforcement, Investigations, Community Outreach, and Public Education. The goal of the Fire Prevention Bureau is to provide information, training, and inspections to the Sun City Fire District. We believe that an informed, educated public will be better prepared to act in case of an emergency and will have an impact in lessening the frequency of these situations.
Inspections/Code Enforcement: The Inspection/Code Enforcement division is charged with inspecting existing businesses, new construction, tenant improvement projects, and plan review. These inspections are conducted by a highly trained, dedicated staff of inspectors; the inspections are done utilizing codes from the following entities, National Fire Protection Association and the International Code Council.
New construction and tenant improvement projects will require plan review and permits; these are in addition to any requirements by other agencies.
(Permit fees can be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card.)
Investigations: The Investigations division will respond to fires that occur within the Sun City Fire District, we will assign a two person team to begin the investigation, if the scene dictates more personnel, we will contact another team to assist. The cost of the investigation will be calculated after the completion of the investigation.
