Smoke detectors save lives ~ The Sun City Fire Department has taken an active role in establishing a unique program for the community. For ten dollars, a Sun City fire truck with its crew will schedule an appointment and install a battery-operated smoke detector, explain its use and monthly maintenance program, plus send a friendly reminder each year to change the battery.

 

In 2002 fire department personnel installed over 600 detectors. To date, over 5,000 smoke detectors have been installed in Sun City and Youngtown. There have been five fires in which detectors installed by department personnel alerted the residents to get out of the home, possibly saving their lives and adverting a large loss due to this cost effective program.

 

With this program, smoke detectors are an inexpensive 24-hour protection for you and your property.
